Salt Labs was founded by Jason Lee and others who pioneered Earned Wage Access, also known as on-demand pay. After Jason founded Salt Labs in 2022, Chime acquired it in June 2024.
Jason then became Chief of Chime Enterprise — with a mission to bridge the gap between traditional financial benefits and modern workplace needs by enabling direct integration of financial wellness tools with employment.
